Met Eireann is today warning of very unsettled weather conditions for the first week of the year.
According to the national forecaster, there will be frequent outbreaks of rain over the next few days, mixed with some brief sunny spells. Daytime temperatures will remain in single digits.
The only good news is that high pressure appears set to dominate weather patterns over the coming weekend, meaning drier and more settled weather.
