Met Eireann is warning that temperatures might drop as low as -11C in some areas tonight, with a Status Orange warning coming into effect this evening.
The warning will be in place for counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Leitrim, and Roscommon, from 6pm until noon tomorrow.
According to the national forecaster, temperatures will remain very cold for the rest of the week, but early indications suggest milder and wetter weather arriving by Sunday.
