The Tanaiste and Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has renewed calls for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza in a speech to hundreds of his party members in Dublin at the party’s Ard Fheis.

The former Taoiseach and Minister for Foreign Affairs said there was “no justification” for what Hamas did but that a ceasefire was needed for innocent people in Gaza.
He told the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis that “Israel has a fundamental obligation to respond within the boundaries of international humanitarian law. Civilians must be protected”.
The Ard Fheis was broadcast on RTE and Martin determined to get a ceasefire said: “This terrible conflict is achieving nothing but death and misery. It needs to stop.”
