Michael McGrath, the Minister of Finance, has been proposed to be Ireland’s next European Commissioner, reports RTE.

After being endorsed by the leaders of the Government’s parties last night, Taoiseach Simon Harris officially submitted the nomination to the Government this morning during a meeting of the Cabinet.
