Michael O’Leary: “Ireland should seriously consider leaving the EU as they are being bullied by the European Parliament over tax laws”

Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary has said Ireland should threaten to leave the EU over the Apple tax ruling.

The often outspoken O’Leary said Ireland should reconsider it’s position in Europe, claiming the European Parliament is bullying Ireland and trying to undermine our own right to dictate our own tax laws.

Mr O’Leary said there can not be one rule for Ireland and another for everyone else: “I’m disturbed by how relatively limpwristed the Irish Government’s response has been.
“I mean look why don’t they tell the British to tax the Resident Nondenominationals in London, they wouldn’t dream of doing it.”

“This is a case of the European Commission bullying Ireland and Ireland should respond with a fair more robust response than just appealing the decision, if this isn’t withdrawn we will consider leaving the European Union.”
