Michael O’Leary: “Shane Ross has played a blinder in his handling of the current situation at Bus Eireann”

Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary has praised the Transport Minister Shane Ross for his handling of the current Bus Eireann strike action.

Mr O’Leary who has expressed his opinion on strike action amongst transport workers in the past, has given his full backing to Mr Ross by saying he is doing what he should be doing.

The Ryanair boss recent comments come after union chiefs called on the transport minister to intervene in the current dispute with management.

Speaking to reporters Mr O’Leary said: “Firstly I think he has played a blinder on the bus issue, because he has stayed out of it and the Minister should stay out of those issues.”

“Where you have public sector unions running around trying to suck Ministers and politicians into disputes, Bertie was a great man for opening the chequebook and buying off the unions over many years, but now you have to stay out of it.”

“Let the management of Bus Éireann manage it.”
