Michael Schumacher’s family plan legal action over bizarre AI ‘interview’

Michael Schumacher’s family are planning legal action against a German weekly magazine over an artificial intelligence-generated “interview” with the seven-time Formula 1 champion.

A spokesman for the Schumacher family asked for comment on Wednesday and referred to published reports of legal action.

The Ferrari great has not been seen in public since suffering a serious brain injury in a skiing accident while on a family holiday in the French Alps in December 2013, reports RTE.

The family have since protected his privacy, with limited access to those close to him and little information about his condition.

The last issue of the current newspaper had a picture of a smiling Schumacher on the front page and the headline “Michael Schumacher, the first interview”, reports RTE.

Strapline said, “It sounded deceptively real,” reports RTE.

Inside, it turned out that the alleged quotes were generated by AI.

Corinna Schumacher said in the 2021 Netflix documentary, “We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable, and to simply make him feel our family, our bond. We’re trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives,” reports RTE.

Schumacher’s son Mick is currently a backup driver for Mercedes in Formula 1 after losing his seat at Haas late last season.
