Micheal D Higgins spokesman says the rumours of up to €10,000 on dog grooming are not true

Rumours have been rife on social media over the past week that Michael D Higgins over sought a staggering  €10,000 on dog grooming.

The whole thing arose after it emerged that on top of the hundreds of thousands of euro he received in salary, Higgins was getting more than €300,000 on expenses.

On last night’s Claire Byrne Presidential debate, Byrne said that a representative for Higgins – who didn’t bother participating in the debate – said that the dog grooming costs were not true.

Businessman Peter Casey challenged Byrne by saying that she merely believed what she was told, while Gavin Duffy said RTE was just a spokesman for Higgins.

What do you think about Higgins receiving such large sums for expenses regardless of what he spent it on. Do you think the public has a right to know his exact expenses?
