The Turkish governments announced it will renege on agreements with the EU and allow Middle East refugees to pass through its territory without impediment to Europe by land or sea has led to a standoff on the Greek border with at least 70,000 migrants massed on the Europe’s frontier.

Greek police and military have had to deploy tear gas and other riot control measures to the migrants, most of whom are young men, from storming the country’s border.

This marks the beginning of a major escalation in the migrant crisis facing the nations of Europe and the Greek government has suspended asylum applications and called for EU support in maintaining the security of its borders.

The announcement comes after a clash between Russian backed Syrian government forces and Turkish troops who have invaded the country to stop the Syrian army from crushing the last major enclave of Islamists terrorists in the country, many of whom belong to an Al-Qaeda affiliate.

It has been speculated that the move by Turkey is an attempt to bully the EU and NATO into supporting its confrontation with Syria and Russia.

While the migrants are safe in Turkey, they are determined to reach the welfare of states of North-Western Europe.
