A tradesman has admitted exposing himself to a distressed woman while carrying out work inside her Dublin home.
Sabanija Mustafic, 56, was working at the woman’s property in Dublin city centre on a date last June, Dublin District Court was told, reports The Mirror.
Garda Sergeant Niall Murphy told Judge Treasa Kelly that the accused “exposed his penis to her when she was sitting in the sitting room”.
Sergeant Murphy said the complainant was shocked and left the room, going to her bedroom to get her car keys so she could leave the house, reports The Mirror.
When she later came out of the bedroom and went downstairs, she saw that Mustafic, of Carrig Court, Fortunestown Lane, Saggart, Co Dublin, was still exposed in the hallway.
The court heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed the case be heard in the District Court rather than the Circuit Court, which has the power to impose more severe sentences, reports The Mirror.
Defence barrister Paddy Flynn confirmed that his client had entered a guilty plea to the charge.
The accused did not address the court during the hearing, reports The Mirror.
Judge Kelly remanded Mustafic on continuing bail and ordered him to return to court in February, when mitigation from the defence and a victim impact statement will be heard during sentencing.
The offence, which falls under section 45 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017, carries a maximum possible sentence of six months’ imprisonment at District Court level, reports The Mirror.
