Migrant Jozef Puska isolated in Dublin prison and on 24-hour watch after suicide attempt

The Irish Mirror has learned that hardened killer Jozef Puska (33) is currently in isolation at Cloverhill Prison in Dublin and is on 24-hour suicide monitoring.

Sources say Puska has been under close surveillance following a credible suicide attempt last week.

He will be transferred to another prison shortly after his sentencing hearing next Friday.

Sources say that he will not be able to meet any prisoners for some time – due to the publicity of the case and the potential threat to his life, reports The Mirror.

Meanwhile, in Tullamore on Friday, residents gathered at the beautiful memorial to Miss Murphy, which stands on the exact spot where she was murdered on the Grand Canal in Cappincourt – near Digby Bridge.

The shrine, which includes photos of Ms. Murphy, flowers and various carved stone tributes to her, serves as a permanent reminder to the community of her terrible loss.

Several residents walking along the canal on Friday stopped to pay their respects at the memorial and told this newspaper how they believe Puska’s murder conviction finally brought justice, reports The Mirror.

Local resident Tom Conway, who was walking with friend Eamon Grennan, told how Ashling Murphy taught his grandchildren at the school and described her as a “lovely girl”.

“She taught my grandchildren and she was a fantastic teacher. She had a fantastic rapport with the children. She would have made a principal in three or four years time, she was so with it,” he said, reports The Mirror.
