Migrant living in Cork who stabbed his own wife five times on Christmas Day jailed

A Hungarian man was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison and ordered to leave Ireland after he was released from prison and not to return after stabbing his wife five times in the back on Christmas Day 2021, reports Breaking News.

Laszlo Nemeth, who previously lived in Cork, appeared at the city’s District Criminal Court on Wednesday in connection with the horrific incident in Glen North, Bantier, Co Cork.

During the attack, the ex-soldier and qualified pilot chased his son around the garden with an axe and attacked him, reports Breaking News.

He also threatened to kill his wife, son and son’s partner, Claudia Borg.

In a victim impact statement, Claudia said she would never forget seeing her partner’s mother, Eva Nemeth, lying on the ground outside the house covered in blood.

“When we are watching a movie, we don’t even think about what it is like when someone is dying in your hands. But now, when I see a scene like that in a movie, I always remember Eva’s words when we lied on the ground while I pressed a jumper on her back to lower the bleeding,” reports Breaking News.
