Migrant pleads guilty to attempted murder at Kerry holiday homes

A Ukrainian man has admitted to attempting to murder a woman at a holiday property in County Kerry last year.

Hryhorii Sryotenko, aged 49 and residing at Banna Beach Holiday Homes, Adfert, entered a guilty plea at the Central Criminal Court in Limerick, reports Breaking News.

He pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to kill Victoria Pavienko at the holiday accommodation on January 13th, 2024.

In connection with the same incident, Sryotenko had also faced charges of causing serious harm through assault, unlawful imprisonment, and producing a knife during a confrontation, reports Breaking News.

At a hearing in Tralee District Court on June 5th, 2024, Detective Garda Anthony Wharton provided testimony concerning Sryotenko’s arrest, formal charge, and caution in relation to the attempted murder offence.

The court was told that Sryotenko responded: “I didn’t want to kill her,” reports Breaking News.

He has been held in custody since his arrest in 2024 and has not applied for bail.

During court proceedings, Sryotenko was provided with free legal representation and access to an interpreter, reports Breaking News.

He remains in custody and is due to be sentenced later this year.
