Migrant who randomly tabbed innocent Irish man at Dublin Airport says “it was a cry for help”

A random knife attack on a German tourist who was stabbed multiple times at Dublin Airport was “a cry for help” from a man “driven to despair.” reports Breaking News.

Kasonga Mbuyi, 51, whose last address was a hostel in Clare Street, Co Limerick, was charged with assault, battery, unlawful possession of a pocket knife as a weapon and an article with intent to injure outside the departure hall of Terminal 1 on Sep 17th.

The Irishman, originally from Angola, appeared at Dublin District Court on Saturday after Judge John Campbell refused him bail and remanded him in custody.

The court heard that Mbuyi, 51, who had been living in Limerick since 2003, sought help from social services after becoming homeless.

Detective Garda Cathal Connolly told the court that Mr Mbuyi did not respond to the assault charge but replied: “I was looking for help” to the weapons offences, reports Breaking News.

Detective Garda Connolly objected to bail citing concerns about flight risks. He alleged that at 11.20 on September 17, a German national was standing alone in front of the departure hall entrance.

The tourist was “subjected to a random knife attack” by the accused.

The detective said Mr Mbuyi made no attempt to hide his identity and told the man: “I’m going to kill you” before attacking and stabbing him on the left side of his body.

Judge Campbell heard the incident was caught on CCTV.

Detective Garda Connolly said the accused was charged on Friday evening after recovering from a broken ankle and dislocated knee from injuries sustained prior to the incident, reports Breaking News.

Detective Garda Connolly said the accused was “tapping” people at the airport to get money for tickets to London.

The officer was concerned that the defendant, who has no ties to that jurisdiction, would be a flight risk if released on bail.

GardaĆ said that following the alleged incident, Mr Mbuya’s former hostel could no longer accommodate him due to care responsibilities.
