The biggest attack on the Ukrainian capital in weeks, launched by Russia early this morning, including around thirty missiles fired at Kyiv, reports RTE.
This came after Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to exact revenge for increasing strikes on Russia’s border areas.
Following the strikes, which left 17 people injured in Kyiv and the surrounding area, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the West to provide air defence systems, reports RTE.
The air force of Ukraine claimed to have shot down 31 Russian missiles that were aimed towards Kiev.
“Such terror continues every day and night. It is possible to put an end to it through global unity… Russian terrorists do not have missiles capable of bypassing Patriot and other leading world systems. This protection is required in Ukraine now. From Kyiv to Kharkiv, Sumy to Kherson, and Odesa to the Donetsk region. This is entirely possible if our partners demonstrate sufficient political will,” Mr Zelensky said in a Telegram post, reports RTE.
