Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly confirms community vaccinations will begin in February




 

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that community vaccinations will begin next month.

In an announcement the Health Minister confirmed that vaccinations for those aged 85 and over will begin in early February.

It is understood that the programme when proceed to those aged 80-84, followed by those aged 75-79 and 70-74.

However the vaccine roll-out is likely to see some delays as the European Union’s allocation from AstraZeneca will be greatly reduced due to apparent production problems.

The Minister for Health’s comments come after he confirmed that 143,000 people including frontline healthcare workers and longterm residents at care facilities have already received at least the first dose of the vaccine.
