The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that the Beacon Hospital should not have given out leftover vaccines to a private school in the area.
In a tweet posted this afternoon Donnelly said: “No private school should have received vaccines from a private hospital.”
“The protocols are crystal clear on having a backup list of people available from the priority cohorts. We are prioritising our most vulnerable right now, as it should be.”
Donnelly”s comments come after it was revealed in The Irish Daily Mail that the hospital had given out 20 doses to teachers at a private school near the area.
The hospital’s decision to issue the vaccines to the school has drawn criticism, given that many people considered to be vulnerable were not offered a vaccine by the hospital.
