Met Eireann has issued a dire weather forecast for the coming weekend, with snow, hail, and thunderstorms possible. A cold weather front currently moving across Europe is to blame for these miserable conditions.
Today, Friday, will be a cold and blustery day, with just the odd bright spell at times, and temperatures barely reaching 8C. Friday night will see the thermometer sink to freezing point, with a lot of showers, some of them wintry and the possibility of snow.
The weather pattern for Saturday and Sunday is of very unsettled conditions, with a lot of rain and temperatures remaining in single digits.
Adverse weather conditions are forecast to last until the middle of next week at least.
