The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that he expects to receive advice on the idea of spreading the timeframe between each dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the coming days.
Speaking to RTE’s This Week programme, Donnelly said that data from Ireland and aboard is showing that there has been a significant decrease in hospitalisations after just one dose of the vaccine.
Although Donnelly said nothing has been officially put into action, he did reiterate that the idea is being looked at by health officials.
He added that he has spoken to the Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn about the possibility of extending the timeframe between each dose and he expects that both Dr Glynn and NIAC will discuss all options available to them.
