Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae has left hospital today, after spending about 24 hours in observation.
He suffered fractured ribs after a pregnant cow lost its temper and launched a frenzied attack on him.
It is understood that the charismatic TD was assisting the cow to give birth when the animal kicked out, pushing him to the ground at one stage and behaving in a generally uncooperative manner.
He has issued an statement saying “I am being released today and the extent of my injuries are not too serious just a few fractured ribs, but I will just have to take it easy for a number of days.”
Both cow and calf are said to be doing well after the incident.
