More bad weather news, as heavy rain and strong winds will be hot on the heels of Storm Deirdre

The worst of Storm Deirdre may have passed, but we’re not out of the woods yet, weather wise at least.

The national forecaster has predicted further spells of heavy rain and gale force winds this week.

Today, Sunday, will remain relatively calm, with some sunny spells and occasional rain showers. Wind will start picking up speed on Monday morning however, with heavy rain appearing across Connacht, west Munster and west Ulster towards the afternoon.

Temperatures will reach 12 at best, with strong winds blowing from a southwesterly direction.

The outlook is for a week of rather unsettled weather, with plenty rain and wind, and temperatures hovering around the 10C mark.
