The mother of Todd Bagley who was brutally murdered in his home along with his wife, Stacie Bagley following a 1999 carjacking has tearfully thanked President Trump on Thursday night following the execution of her son and daughter-in-law’s murderer.
The U.S Justice Department on Thursday executed Brandon Bernard for his involvement in the 1999 double murder despite pleas for a commutation from leftist activists and celebrities.
Bernard, 18-years-old at the time, along with accomplice Christopher Vialva, kidnapped the Bagleys after duping them into thinking they needed help. They beat and stuffed them into the boot of their own car before driving for seven hours and then Vialva shot both at close range.
The couple were not killed by the gunshots but died after Bernard set the car on fire with them still alive in the trunk.
Vialva was executed for his role in the killings in September.
There was no doubt of Bernard’s guilt, having admitted and attempted to repent for his involvement in torturous slaying of the two Christian Youth ministry workers, but because Bernard was black and his victims were white, activists believed that he should be spared execution.
As authorities prepared to put the savage to death, protestors, mostly young white women, gathered outside to beg for the murderer’s life.
