Major traffic disruption is expected in Dublin this Bank Holiday weekend, as the north and south quays will be closed at O’Connell Bridge to facilitate Luas expansion works. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if at all possible.

Traffic restrictions will be in place until 6am on Tuesday August 2.

Motorists should expect major delays around the capital during this time. Extra public transport services will be offered, in an effort to alleviate the situation.

Additional Luas and Dart services will run on Sunday and Monday, and children will be allowed to travel for free with a valid Child Leap Card for the entire weekend.

Free parking will be made available on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Luas and Irish Rail park-and-ride sites within the Short Hop Fare zone.
