Motorists are being absolutely fleeced by toll increases, says TD

The leader of Aontú, Peadar Tóibín, has expressed his concern over the recent toll price hikes, stating that commuters are being unfairly charged, reports Breaking News.

He claimed that the increase in toll prices is making it difficult for drivers and pushing them to their limits, causing what he calls “commuter hell.”

The recent increase affects Dublin Port Tunnel peak time prices, which have risen from €10 to €12, and 50 cents for off-peak hours, reports Breaking News.

Mr Tóibín believes that the government’s decision could force people out of their cars, leading to more problems for commuters.

Mr Tóibín told Newstalk: “The Government has spent €300 million to date on Metro North, and not a shovel has been put in the ground. For me… that’s astounding, that you have a Government that has done all the talk, all the preparations, the investigations, the planning etc. But they won’t actually take the final step to actually put the infrastructure in place,” reports Breaking News.
