Irish motorists are overpaying thousands in toll fees per year it has been revealed.
According to Radio Nova, motorists who have travelled on Dublin’s East Link Bridge spent €46,000 more on toll fees since 2016.
The latest figures which has led for calls for the surplus money to be donated to charity, also found that motorists overpaid by €36,000 whilst travelling through the Port Tunnel last year.
Although toll companies aren’t required to hand over surplus money, Social Democrats TD Catherine Murphy has called on companies to donate the money to charity.
Ms Murphy stated that the surplus isn’t income the company has earned and therefore it should be re-distributed.
