Miriam Cates, a UK Member of Parliament and former biology teacher, has told her fellow MPs that the country’s sex education curriculum is encouraging pupils to self-identify as transgender, the Daily Mail UK reported.

Cates explained how gender dysphoria had been extremely rare but with the promotion of transgenderism on social media platforms and by celebrities and academics there is now a phenomenon of ‘social contagion’ which is seeing a dramatic rise in transgenderism among impressionable children.

This tragic situation is compounded by sex education curricula being altered to promote gender ideology to children with a YouGov poll finding 79% of secondary teachers had trans or non-binary pupils.

According to the Daily Mail the MP cited materials from the Sex Education Forum that divided children into ‘menstruators and non-menstruators’ and said this would lead to confusion for a teenage girl whose periods did not start.

The situation is compounded by the fact that these sex education lessons which promote transgender ideology to children are since 2020 compulsory in all English secondary schools with Mrs. Cates warning children are being exposed to ‘a plethora of deeply inappropriate, wildly inaccurate, sexually explicit and damaging materials in the name of sex education’.
