
Following the findings of a post-mortem study performed on the 31-year-old woman’s remains, a murder investigation is underway into her death, reports RTE.
The findings of the examination performed by Assistant State Pathologist Dr. Margot Bolster verified that Paula Canty, a mother of two and native of Kinsale, had passed away as a consequence of foul play.
Although the post-mortem examination results have not been made public, the investigating gardaà are said to have verified that Ms. Canty had been stabbed in the chest, reports RTE.
Around noon on Friday, gardaà got a call informing them of an incident, and they discovered the woman’s dead in her apartment in the Belfry on Bridewell Lane in Mallow.
After two days of thorough inspection by garda technological specialists, the flat is still blocked off, reports RTE.
For a technical inspection, a second property close by at Shoulders Lane has also been blocked off.
A senior investigative officer has been assigned to oversee the probe, and an incident room has been established at Mallow Garda Station.
Anyone possessing dashcam or smartphone footage from the Bridewell Lane area of Mallow between 9 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday is encouraged to get in touch with the GardaÃ, reports RTE.
