The music world sadly lost another icon today as the architect of Rock n Roll sadly passed away at the age of 87.
In a statement released to Rolling SStone magazine his son Danny Penniman confirmed that the star sadly passed away on Saturday morning.
Richard who had a number of hit songs including Good Golly Miss Molly and Tutti Frutti had been ill for a number of months.
However the cause of his death has yet to be revealed.
