Muslim parents protest gay teacher for promoting LGBT rights in school

Muslim parents have protested outside a primary school in Birmingham and started a petition against a gay school assistant head-teacher who they claim is promoting LGBTQ rights in violation of their religious freedom.

One concerned mother, Fatima Shah, expressed her outrage that the school’s assistant head teacher, Andrew Moffat, is teaching children it is “ok to be gay”.

Shah claims that 98% of students at the school are Muslim. In most majority Muslim countries, homosexuality is a criminal offence and in several even carries a death sentence as punishment.

Several parents have removed their children from the school in protest at Mr Moffat, who was made an MBE for campaigning against homophobia, introducing books such as “Mommy, Mama and Me” and “King & King”.

The children’s books are part of a ‘reading programme’ targeted at primary school children called “No Outsider” which promotes the LGBTQ agenda.

The Guardian reported that in 2017 a broad survey of British Muslims found that over half believe homosexuality should be criminalised while nearly a quarter want full Sharia (Islamic Law) imposed as the UK’s law system.

At the time Trevor Phillips, the former head of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, sounded the alarm stating the finding’s were “extremely worrying” as they suggested on many issues Muslims were “nation within a nation”.
