NASA’s deep-space probe New Horizons has sent a signal to its controllers back on Earth after completing a successful fly-by of Ultima Thule, an icy alien world located four billion miles away from us.
New Horizon’s signal took about 10 hours to reach Earth, due to the sheer distance involved.
Ultima Thule is the most remote world ever flown by a human-made object. The planet remains in a state of perfect freeze, which will help scientists to better understand how the Universe was formed.
The probe is expected to commence beaming images of the frozen-in-time world shortly.
