New entry level Gardaí could receive about €4,000 in restored allowances if the GRA agree to the Lansdowne Road agreement

According to reports this morning new entry level Gardaí could receive about €4,000 in restored allowances by November if the Garda Representative Association agrees to enter into the Lansdowne Road.

It is understood the Government are willing to offer the allowance along with additional hours which gardaí have agreed to carry out under the former Haddington Road agreement.

Government sources say the restoration of rent allowance for gardaí recruited in recent years could be put in place by November if the GRA agree to the terms outlined in the Lansdowne Agreement.

The news comes after the Government issued penalties to the GRA, along with the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland (ASTI), after both organisations rejected the Lansdowne Road agreement.
