A new bus service will begin operating across a number of rural areas from the end of June.
The night time-only service will officially be aimed at “tackling rural isolation”, but it will effectively be used by people going out to drink.
The buses will run between 6pm and 11pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The new service will cost the Government somewhere in the region of €450,000 a month.
Details of the proposed routes will be published at a later date.
