According to a new study almost half of Irish smokers have tried to quit the habit.
However the latest carried out by Healthy Ireland Survey, found that only 10% managed to quit.
The survey also found that those who did manage to quit, almost half of did through willpower alone, whilst around a third managed to do so using e-cigarettes.
Although the study did find that new smokers is still relatively high at 20%, with vast majority of under-25s taking up smoking each day.
