A new weekly social welfare payment for pensioners is due to come into effect this week.
The Benefit Payment for 65 Year Olds, worth €203 a week (with an increase for dependants, if applicable), will be paid to those aged 65-66 who are no longer employed or self-employed.
Eligibility for the payments will be linked to PRSI contributions.
