Local authorities in New York have confirmed that this morning’s incident in Manhattan was indeed a botched terrorist attack.
A 27-year-old man of Bangladeshi ascent intended to detonate a homemade device at a crowded subway corridor near Tines Square.
The man, identified as Akayed Ullah, had strapped the device to his chest. The bomb failed to detonate properly however, causing injury only to the attacker himself and three passers-by.
It is understood that he was also in possession of a second device, which did not detonate.
Ullah reportedly said that he carried out the attack in the name of ISIS.
