New York-bound Aer Lingus flight forced to return to Shannon Airport due to a medical emergency

Aer Lingus Flight EI111, bound for JFK Airport in New York, was forced to turn back to Shannon after a passenger fell ill in mid-flight.

The aircraft was about an hour into its journey when the medical emergency was declared.

The plane landed safely at Shannon Airport and the casualty was rushed to University Hospital Limerick. The flight then resumed its journey without further incident.
