There will be major changes to the RTÉ News studio later this year as it has been revealed that the national broadcaster will spend €1.7m overhauling its television studio’s.
The latest overhaul which has been put up to tender comes less a few months after it was revealed that the state broadcaster reported an annual loss of €20m.
According to The Sun newspaper, studios at Donnybrook will get a revamp for the first time since 2009.
The paper states that tender documents show that improvements will be made in the graphics and lighting departments, whilst an brand new automated camera system that will give a new and improved look.
It will also house a new video wall to provide graphics on key events and the major revamp will also the inclusion of a second presentation area.
The move which will most likely face some criticism comes less than year after the state broadcaster announced 300 job cuts due to declining revenues.
