Nightclubs could have later opening hours from October

Nightclubs and pubs across the country could be opening for longer under new proposals being set out by the Minister for Culture Catherine Martin.

Under the new proposals clubs and pubs could potentially be opening until 6am as the industry looks to get back on track.

It is believed that the plans are being considered in an effort to boost tourism and create staggered closing hours.

Although no official decision has been made it is thought that the Government are considering the proposals as it would be more inline with the European model were pubs, nightclubs, cafes and other cultural institutions remain open until 5am.
