Nightmare for Ireland as Katie Taylor has been beaten by Finland’s Mira Potkonen in the last-eight of the women’s 60kg division.
Attempting to defend her gold medal she won in London four years ago, Taylor looked sluggish and never really found he stride against the tough 35-year-old Finn and was beaten on a split decision.
The first round was quite even, with Taylor and the 35-year-old Potkonen looking for an opening and feeling each other out.
We never have only Michael Conlan left with the chance of a medal.
