Nine restaurants in Dublin and Kilkenny issued closing orders

The Food Safety Authority issued four Closure Orders and five Prohibition Orders to Dublin and Kilkenny restaurants.

The FSAI ruled that the restaurants were guilty of violating food safety regulations and were not in a position to remain open for business. A Closure Order is served when there is likely to be a bad or immediate danger to public health and can be served on all or some of the property in question. A Prohibition Order is issued if the activities carry a serious risk to public health from a particular product, class, batch or item of food. The aim is to prohibit the sale of the product, either temporarily or permanently.

During the month of November, a successful prosecution was also carried out by the HSE on Kungfu Buffet, Unit 2, Phibsborough Shopping Centre, Phibsborough Road, Phibsborough, Dublin 7.
