“No chance of my own house” – The majority of 25-yr-old Irish people are living with parents due to financial reasons, says CSO




According to a poll of 25-yr-olds, 62% of them lived with their parents mostly for financial reasons, reports RTE.

According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) poll, 34% of respondents indicated they struggled to make ends meet, and almost one in twenty reported having severe financial troubles.

It was shown that 86% of respondents were extremely worried about housing access in Ireland, reports RTE.

According to the survey, 31% of women and 18% of men, respectively, have received a diagnosis of anxiety or depression at some time in their lives.

Of those contacted to participate in the study, one in eight had left their country of origin, reports RTE.

According to the poll, 7.5% of respondents were living outside of their parents’ house and outside of the area they called home when they were nine years old.

Nearly one in five, or 20%, of the respondents claimed to have no interest in politics, whereas the majority of respondents (58.5%) were in a romantic relationship, reports RTE.

The ‘Growing Up In Ireland Cohort ’98’ is a research that tracks the same group of individuals born in 1998 from infancy to adulthood through interviews.

At the ages of nine, thirteen, seventeen, twenty, and twenty-five, the group was questioned. The poll had 3,380 responses.

Most respondents expressed satisfaction with their life and optimism about the future, reports RTE.

Men made €64 more per week than women, according to the pay gap study.

Overall, it was discovered that just one in twenty had a lower-level certification, while over three out of five had a degree and over one out of ten had a master’s degree, reports RTE.

According to the research, 85% of people were worried about climate change.

The majority (51%) had not participated in any major political action in the last year, and nearly one in five (19.9%) said they had no interest in politics, reports RTE.

More over one in five (21%) reported having tried cocaine at least once in the previous 12 months, while slightly more than half (51%) claimed they did not smoke or vape.

89% of respondents reported having high or excellent health, according to the CSO, reports RTE.

The majority of respondents expressed optimism about the future, despite over two thirds (65.6%) reporting at least a few instances of prejudice in the previous year.

A median wage of €558 was earned by around 85% of those in regular work.

Respondents with degrees made €613 a week, while those without degrees made €485, reports RTE.
