No deal: Nursing Unions call on its members to reject new pay deal

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation(INMO) and the Psychiatric Nurses Association have suggested that its members reject the Government’s latest pay proposals aimed at addressing the current staffing shortages at the nations hospitals.

According to RTÉ News, chiefs of both organisations have recommended that its members should reject the proposals as they claim the pay recommendations are not adequate to address the ongoing issue of staff retention and recruitment.

Although any talk of industrial action is someway away, it is expected a ballot for such action could occur if members of both bodies vote in favour of rejecting the latest deal.

Both bodies are calling for a fair pay parity as the number of recruits combined with the retention of staff has significantly declined in recent years.
