No fewer than 29 people have died after a migrant boat capsized off the Tunisian coast.
It is understood that the boat sank off the coast of Mahdia.
According to local authorities, there has been a marked increase in the number of people attempting the perilous crossing from northern Africa into Italy over the past few days.
