No Irish need apply: Site in Cork repurposed for modular homes that will only be used for asylum seekers

Yet another Irish town is rising up against the government’s 21st century plantation of Ireland with migrants and asylum seekers as the people of Mahon, Co. Cork speak out against plans to dump 250 unvetted Ukrainians in their community.

The government in their wisdom has decided to repurpose a site that was green lit for 240 apartments designed to help ease the housing shortage and homelessness crisis but will now instead be used to build 64 modular homes – No Irish Need Apply.

These modular homes will be used to plant around 250 unvetted Ukrainian asylum seekers in the small community which is already struggling with lack of services and limited public facilities.

As is standard practice, the Irish citizens of this town had no consolation from the local or national government before plans were approved for the new plantation and it appears that authorities are once again prepared to simply ignore the peaceful, democratic will of locals.
