No money: Ministers officially ‘reject’ €12k pay hike

Government ministers have now officially ‘rejected’ a due €12k pay rise.

The issue of such unfair pay increase had sparked a huge amount of controversy among the people of Ireland, specially as it coincided with a desultory €5 rise in pensions and other social welfare entitlements.

But today, Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe asked ministers to forego the increase, something that was unanimously accepted, according to reports.

And while the ministers may have chosen to not take the extra money, it remains uncertain what TDs may do, as they are also due for ‘pay restoration.’

Stay tuned for updates.
