There will be no mid term break for TDs this October after the Dáil voted in favour of scrapping its own mid-term break proposal.
The break which was harshly criticised will not go ahead after the Dáil’s business committee voted not overwhelmingly in favour not to sit next week.
It is understood the week off proposal was immediately rejected by Fianna Fáil, which then forced the government to vote against its own proposal.
The news now means TDs will work for at least two days next week.
