Gardaí and customs officials’ have confirmed today that they have seized €5m worth of cocaine near Liscannor.
Gardaí say the large quantity of drugs were found inside “torpedo” laying on a beach. The discovery came after Customs chiefs were tipped off about the suspicious object.
It is believed there was about 75kg of the drug inside the 6ft metal tube.
Customs officials say the tube may have been attached below the waterline of a cargo ship or another ocean-going vessel.
