Northern Ireland could have a different timezone to the Republic under EU directive

In what can only be described as utterly bizarre at best,  Northern Ireland could conceivably have a different timezone to that of the South.

Under proposed European Union directives, Ireland will join other EU member States by ending Spring and Autumn clock changes where the clock goes forward and back one hour respectively.

The changes could see children going to school in the dark in the mornings but could see brighter evenings, at least to some extent either side of the changes.

The United Kingdom however, has decided not to change their timezone schedule and will proceed as normal with the +1 and -1 hour changes which could see Northern Ireland one hour ahead or behind that of the South in the next couple of years.

Although some people believe that this could cause issues, numerous countries around the world function perfectly well with different timezones.
