Northern Lights to be visible again soon, space forecasters predict

Space weather specialists have stated that during the next several weeks, the UK may be able to see the Northern Lights once more, reports Breaking News.

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports that last week, the bands of pink and green light, also known as aurora borealis, were visible throughout the UK and throughout portions of Europe due to an intense geomagnetic storm that increased their visibility.

The most recent solar storm activity comes after a string of flares and massive coronal plasma ejections that endangered to cut out electricity and communications both on Earth and in orbit, reports Breaking News.

In ten to twelve days, the sunspot region will spin back towards Earth, opening the door for further geomagnetic storms and displays the northern lights, according to Krista Hammond, a space weather researcher at the Met Office.

“The sunspot region will be be coming back round onto the Earth facing side of the sun,” she said, reports Breaking News.
