Not fare: Commuters face more travel costs as NTA approves taxi fare increase

There was bad news for commuters on Friday as The National Transport Authority have confirmed that taxi fares will rise in 2018.

It is understood a 3.2% increase is being brought in as Taxi drivers have voiced their concerns about spiralling costs particularly insurance premiums.

The Taxi Association have welcomed the NTA’s fare increase approval which will see the average taxi fare rise from €8 to €8.40.

Although the new rate doesn’t seem all that much of an increase, longer journeys could see commuters paying quite a few more euro to get to their destination.
